Cuba preparada para alza turística sin huellas de Irma

“Ratificamos de manera objetiva nuestro compromiso de que todas las instalaciones de turismo estarán operativas para la temporada alta, incluyendo Santa María, Cayo Coco y Cayo Guillermo”, afirmó este sábado el Ministro de Turismo, Manuel Marrero, en la presentación a los turoperadores del destino Cuba, en el Salón Plenario de Plaza América.

Cuba estará lista el próximo 1 de noviembre para recibir la alza turística con mejores condiciones hoteleras y de infraestructura, ratificó Marrero junto a Ivis Fernández, delegada del Ministerio de Turismo (Mintur) en Varadero, en el evento que contó con la asistencia de más de 160 turoperadores.

El máximo representante del Mintur comentó que “al paso del huracán Irma, teníamos en el país 51 mil turistas en todo el territorio, de ellos 39 mil extranjeros y 12 mil compatriotas nacionales, que estaban disfrutando de sus vacaciones en los hoteles. Del total de los vacacionistas del país, el 88% (46 mil) se encontraban en ese momento alojados en la costa norte del territorio, en los lugares amenazados. Adicionalmente, teníamos también en el litoral 2 216 campistas.”

Holguín, provincia azotada por el paso de Irma, enfrentó el huracán con 3 935 turistas alojados dentro de las instalaciones de Gaviota, Cubanacán e Islazul. El ministro explicó que “se decidió que no era necesario proceder a una evacuación y que existían las condiciones para que ellos pudieran enfrentar el pase de este evento sin que corriera peligro la vida de los clientes ni trabajadores”.

Las principales afectaciones se concentraron en los polos turísticos de Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo y Cayo Santa María. Cifras ofrecidas en la conferencia, refieren que en estos cayos fueron evacuados 10 625 turistas, de ellos un poco más de cinco mil para La Habana y Varadero. El resto de los turistas fueron directamente repatriados por sus turoperadores hacia Canadá.

“Quiero aprovechar para agradecer a través de ustedes (turoperadores) a esos miles de turistas, por el comportamiento tan disciplinado que tuvieron todos los que estuvieron con nosotros en ese momento. Una vez que recibieron las orientaciones de las diferentes administraciones las acataron, las cumplieron con disciplina. También tengo que decir que en ello contribuyó fuertemente la actitud de nuestros trabajadores y de los directivos del turismo, porque no había ninguno de ellos en la casa, no había ninguno de ellos encerrado en una oficina sino junto a los turistas, en el mismo lugar evacuados, lo cual contribuyó a dar confianza, a establecer una comunicación”, afirmó Manuel Marrero.

Por su parte, las instalaciones de los territorios de Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Cienfuegos, Mayabeque, Artemisa y Pinar del Río continúan funcionando sin ningún tipo de afectación.

En la actualidad, fue restablecida la energía eléctrica, el agua y las comunicaciones en el 100% de los polos turísticos del país.

El Ministerio de Turismo cuenta con los recursos financieros para enfrentar el proceso de recuperación. Además, se han tomado otras medidas como la resolución número 15 del Ministerio de Trabajo que estimula mediante el pago por resultado al personal vinculado a la recuperación: constructores, personal del hotel, etc.

También se elaboró un plan especial de comunicación, a raíz de las imágenes que salieron a Internet durante el paso del huracán, para restituir la confianza de los turoperadores y de los turistas en la venidera Temporada Alta en la mayor de las Antillas.

Bárbara Cruz Rodríguez, Directora General de la Agencia de Viajes Cubatur, comentó a Cubadebate que lo más importante es que la preparación de ellos es constante. “A partir de que nos dieron las orientaciones, por supuesto, activamos todo lo que estaba establecido. Debo destacar el sentido de pertenencia de los trabajadores de Cubatur, ya que fue algo que se hizo en todo el país, pues todos nos preparamos.”

“Fue importante la evacuación de Cayo Coco, que se hizo con mucha disciplina, con orden, rasgo que primó en el equipo. También después los supervisores y los guías se mantuvieron en los hoteles con los clientes para la asistencia; dejando su casa y dejándolo todo”, expresó Cruz.

La Directora de Cubatur manifestó que confían en que los mercados habituales se incorporen a la temporada, más ahora con las nuevas ofertas de circuitos.

Cruz Rodríguez explicó que está próximo a desarrollarse el evento Turnat de naturaleza, del 25 al 30 de septiembre, “y ahí vamos a mostrarle también a los que estén con nosotros la recuperación propia desde el año pasado después del huracán Matthew en Baracoa.”
“Es importante demostrarle al mundo que estamos recuperados de verdad y la necesidad que tiene este pueblo bloqueado de que vengan los clientes. Los que nos quieran, solidaridad con nosotros. Esa es la manera”, concluyó Bárbara Cruz.
