Mayabeque; Cuba - El 13 de agosto de 2013 fue un día singular para los pobladores del municipio de Madruga, ubicado a unos kilómetros de la capital cubana y perteneciente a la provincia de Mayabeque.

Dos hechos de importancia mayor se festejaron: el aniversario 87 del natalicio del líder histórico de la Revolución Cubana, Fidel Castro Ruz, y la visita de la prima ballerina  Alicia Alonso, directora del Ballet Nacional de Cuba.

La legendaria artista inauguró la exposición Mitos en las islas, con fotografías de Pedro Simón, director del Museo Nacional de la Danza, tomadas durante el encuentro entre ella, el bailarín ruso Rudolf Nuréyev y la soprano española Victoria de los Ángeles en 1990.

La Asamblea Municipal del Poder Popular en Madruga distinguió a Alicia Alonso como HIJA ILUSTRE, en medio de la aclamación de los pobladores de ese territorio de la provincia de Mayabeque.

Mi corazón está abierto para ustedes, dijo la directora del Ballet Nacional de Cuba al agradecer los reconocimientos y la cálida bienvenida, presidida  por el primer secretario del Comité Provincial del Partido, Juan Miguel García Díaz.

Durante toda la jornada del día 13 se realizaron en Madruga actividades infantiles y juveniles a propósito del cumpleaños 87 de Fidel, quien el  año 1959 transitó por Madruga al frente  de la caravana rebelde que venía del oriente del país con destino final en la capital cubana.

La celebración mereció las palabras de Alicia, quien visiblemente emocionada expresó: “Felicidades Fidel, y eterna vida contigo”.
