Actividad científica en Mayabeque (Scientific activity in Mayabeque)

Que la provincia de Mayabeque sea una de las de mayor actividad científica en Cuba va más allá del hecho promocional para convertirse en una realidad que genera importantes eventos cada año.

Productores, científicos y especialistas de más de 10 países conocerán los avances en la producción y desarrollo frutícola cubano, durante el Cuarto Simposio Internacional de Fruticultura Tropical y Subtropical, del 25 al 28 de junio, evento que asumirá como sede el Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Agrícolas (INCA), ubicado en el municipio de San José de las Lajas.

Sucede que los avances que muestra nuestra provincia y otras del país en las investigaciones de fruticultura tropical, llaman la atención de especialistas latinoamericanos, ello justifica que hayan mostrado interés en acudir a la cita representantes de Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Belice, Guatemala, México, Paraguay y Venezuela.                  

 Los debates que se generen en el evento estarán en función de mejorar la producción, conservación, industrialización y comercialización de los cítricos, alimento rico en vitaminas.

Como todo evento científico de estos tiempos los asistentes al Cuarto Simposio Internacional de Fruticultura Tropical y Subtropical analizarán la importancia del mejoramiento genético, y las técnicas biotecnológicas para enfrentar las consecuencias del cambio climático y la postcosecha.

 Aspectos relacionados con la fisiología, el desarrollo industrial y el medio ambiente, así como el manejo de plantaciones de frutales, desde la agrotecnia, riego, cultivo, distancia de plantación, poda y nutrición, también  serán analizados en las cuatro comisiones de trabajo.

 El programa de la cita prevé recorrer   una finca integral de frutales y a la Empresa Victoria de Girón, ubicada en el municipio de Jagüey Grande, provincia de Matanzas, donde los delegados e invitados podrán constatar parte de lo que se hace en nuestro país a favor de la fruticultura.

Actualmente en Mayabeque, tanto empresas estatales como agricultores individuales, utilizando las posibilidades que ofrece la agricultura urbana y suburbana, reaniman el sector a través de fincas integrales de frutales, en las cuales se plantan posturas de elevada calidad, que asegurarán mejores rendimientos en cosechas futuras.

Por eso el Cuarto Simposio Internacional de Fruticultura Tropical y Subtropical que tendrá por escenario el Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Agrícolas (INCA), ubicado en el municipio de San José de las Lajas, confirmará las potencialidades científicas de la provincia cubana de Mayabeque.
