EL Gran Maestro de Mayabeque, Leinier Domínguez Pérez, volverá a ser el líder del equipo Sestao Naturgas Energía, en la División de Honor del Campeonato de Clubes de Ajedrez de España.

Desde este domingo, 8 de septiembre, el evento reunirá ocho selecciones en la ciudad de Linares.

El ídolo de la ciudad cubana de Güines,  decimotercer hombre del ranking mundial, tendrá entre sus compañeros al holandés Anish Giri, los franceses Maxime Vachier-Lagrave y Romain Edouard y los locales Iván Salgado y Alfonso Romero.

El año anterior  ese evento le reportó la primera posición por conjuntos y 28 coma cinco puntos, al acumular seis series ganadas y una igualada.

Leinier protagonizó una excelente labor, cinco unidades de siete posibles y sonada victoria sobre el ucraniano Ruslan Ponomariov. Ahora no será él la única razón en la Isla para que sigan los matches de seis tableros convocados para siete jornadas en el auditorio El Pósito; su compatriota Lázaro Bruzón será la primera figura del conjunto Equigoma.
