Cuba exhibe una tasa de mortalidad infantil de 4,2 por cada mil nacidos vivos, la cifra más baja de la historia, cuando apenas queda menos de un mes para concluir 2013, afirmó Roberto Morales Ojeda, ministro de Salud Pública (MINSAP).

En diálogo con la AIN, el miembro del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba, destacó la estabilidad en todas las provincias, lo cual permite -recalcó- que el rango de ese indicador esté entre tres y 5.5 en el caso del territorio con mayor mortalidad, resultado que se traduce en  sostenibilidad.

Morales Ojeda auguró que ello permitirá concluir el 2013 con la más baja tasa, como digno homenaje al aniversario 55 del triunfo de la Revolución.

El titular del MINSAP dijo que La Habana, Pinar del Río y Sancti Spíritus son las provincias más destacadas y trasmitió un reconocimiento especial a la capital porque “la tasa de mortalidad infantil que hoy exhibe es fruto del compromiso, dedicación y entrega de los trabajadores de la Salud, tanto de la atención primaria como secundaria”, aseveró.

Al cierre de noviembre, Cuba registró unos 105 mil nacimientos, similar a igual etapa anterior, pero no se ha logrado revertir la tendencia que existía a la disminución, aunque este año no ha existido una gran diferencia como en 2012, cuando hubo siete mil alumbramientos menos, puntualizó.
