Se trata de una médico venezolana de 28 años de edad, que arribó al país el 21 de febrero de 2016 para recibir un postgrado de Gastroenterología, procedente del estado de Aragua, alojándose en la Residencia Estudiantil de Machurrucutu, municipio Bauta, provincia Artemisa, junto a otros 37 médicos para vigilancia epidemiológica (Control Sanitario Internacional).

Comienza el día 22 con febrícula de 37.5 grados centígrados y el 23 de febrero en horas de la noche, aparece rash en cara y tronco, además de artralgia (dolor en las articulaciones), procediendo su ingreso el día 24 en el Instituto de Medicina Tropical “Pedro Kouri”, donde se encuentra hospitalizada.

Se ha mantenido afebril a partir de ese día, buen estado general, el rash ha ido desapareciendo y no presentó conjuntivitis.

Refirió como antecedente que su esposo presentó Zika, diagnosticado clínicamente hace dos meses y su cuñado también tuvo la enfermedad dos semanas antes de ella viajar.
El día 25 de febrero se informa negativo el PCR en tiempo real a virus de Zika, realizado a la paciente en el momento del ingreso, no obstante se repite la toma de la muestra el 28 de febrero, al no coincidir el resultado con el cuadro clínico y los antecedentes epidemiológicos, informándose como positiva el día 29.

El resto de los profesionales que se encuentran en vigilancia, no han presentado hasta el momento ninguna sintomatología.
