Leinier, resultado inédito para el ajedrez cubano (Leinier, unheard Cuban chess)

El Gran Maestro (GM) cubano Leinier Domínguez Pérez da la bienvenida al mes de julio con un nuevo record nacional  al incrementar en 30 puntos su coeficiente ELO, ahora de 2757 puntos, válido para el lugar 13 en el ranking universal.

Ese ascenso tiene como razón fundamental la excelente actuación que cumplió el ídolo de Güines en la cuarta parada del Grand Prix de ajedrez, efectuada en la ciudad griega de Tsalónica, donde además de la primera posición, jugó para un promedio superior a los 2900 puntos y sumó a su cuantía personal una treintena de puntos.

Leinier se mantiene como el líder del juego ciencia en Latinoamérica y el tercero del continente, ahora más cerca del GM Hikaru Nakamura (2775)  y Gata Kamsky (2763), japonés y ruso nacionalizados en los Estados Unidos.

Lo más próximo para el joven trebejista cubano es su participación en la Copa Mundial de Ajedrez, en Noruega, en agosto, con el objetivo de clasificarse al Torneo de Candidatos de 2014.

«En esta Copa (Mundial) tengo el incentivo de clasificar al Torneo de Candidatos, una buena oportunidad de insertarme en la disputa por una plaza para discutir el título universal», dijo a medios de prensa.

La lid incluye un total de 12 jugadores, 11 clasificados en competiciones interzonales y el perdedor del anterior campeonato del orbe, los cuales sostendrán encuentros individuales y eliminatorios.

El Torneo de Candidatos 2014 decidirá quién es el próximo retador del campeón del mundo, que saldrá del vencedor en el duelo entre el noruego Magnus Carlsen y el indio Viswanathan Anand.

Domínguez, de 29 años, expresó además que entre sus aspiraciones inmediatas también figura alcanzar un buen desempeño en la sexta parada del Grand Prix 2013, programado para París, dentro de tres meses.
