El presidente de Cuba, Raúl Castro, envió hoy un mensaje de condolencias al jefe de Estado mexicano, Enrique Peña Nieto, por las lamentables pérdidas humanas y cuantiosos daños materiales ocasionados por el sismo ocurrido la víspera.

Así lo informó la embajada cubana aquí, que entregó el texto, recibido por correo electrónico, a la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores.

El presidente de los Consejos de Estado y de Ministros de Cuba expresó su solidaridad con las autoridades y el pueblo mexicanos y la disposición de la isla caribeña de asistir en la recuperación que se inicia aquí.

Más de 200 personas perdieron la vida tras el sismo, que tuvo lugar 12 días después de otro que segó la vida a decenas de personas en los estados de Oaxaca y Chiapas.

El movimiento telúrico de ayer ocurrió el mismo día pero 32 años después del terremoto que ocasionó miles de fallecidos en la capital mexicana, donde colapsaron numerosos edificios de viviendas, hoteles y hospitales, entre otros.
