A inicios del año 2015 la mítica agrupación, Buena Vista Social Club, el all star cubano más conocido del orbe, actuará en las jóvenes provincias de Mayabeque y Artemisa como parte de su primera gira por Cuba.

En declaraciones al periodico Granma, Jesús "Aguaje" Ramos, trombonista y director del conjunto, comentó a la prensa la importancia de la empresa, que los llevará a escenarios de todo el país con su nómina completa incluidos algunos de los fundadores del proyecto: la diva Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, el trompetista Guajiro Mirabal y el laudista Barbarito Torres.

Aguaje explicó que el periplo por la Isla consta de tres etapas, la primera: de Guantánamo a Camagüey; la segunda: de Ciego de Ávila a Pinar del Río, y por último los conciertos en las jóvenes provincias de Artemisa y Mayabeque, y el cierre en la capital.

Queremos, dijo, que los seguidores del Buena Vista y de la música tradicional del país tengan la posibilidad de disfrutarnos en vivo, es un deseo que hemos acariciado por años y que ahora se hace posible gracias al apoyo del Instituto Cubano de la Música.

El público de la Isla podrá disfrutar de los clásicos de siempre, señaló, pero también de las nuevas composiciones que engrosan el repertorio de la orquesta, además de conocer a las jóvenes figuras que se incorporan.

En el encuentro trascendió, además, la grabación de un nuevo álbum, que, aún sin nombre, estará conformado por temas interpretados por algunos de los fundadores ya fallecidos (Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González y Compay Segundo) que no han sido incluidos en ninguna de las placas anteriores y otros compuestos recientemente.
