Descubren cuadro inédito pintado por Leonardo Da Vinci

El suplemento “Sette” del diario “Corriere della Sera” ha publicado hoy que expertos de la Universidad Leonardo descubrieron una pintura de Isabel de Este, que había permanecido 500 años en el anonimato y es ya considerada precursora de la célebre Mona Lisa.

“Retrato de Isabel de Este”, nombre de la obra pictórica a color, fue encontrado en el búnker de la casa de una adinerada familia suiza y es el sucesor del carboncillo previo hecho por el maestro italiano y conservado hoy en el Museo del Louvre en París.

Todo indica que, mientras el carboncillo fue realizado por Leonardo Da Vinci a principios del siglo XVI, cuando era huésped del marqués Francisco II Gonzaga en la ciudad de Mantua, en Italia, el retrato a color tuvo que esperar alrededor de 15 años y tras la constante insistencia de la esposa del marqués y modelo, Elena de Este.

El profesor Carlo Pedretti, máxima autoridad en la Universidad Leonardo, califica esta pintura como “excepcional” y asegura que el retrato de Isabel es “el único de este tipo en el mundo”.

Se trata de un óleo sobre tela realizado entre los años 1513 y 1516 con una medida de 61 centímetros de largo y 46,5 de ancho y que presenta varios motivos iconográficos inspirados en Santa Catalina de Siena, tales como corona y cetro.

No hay dudas sobre la autenticidad del retrato y la firma del maestro florentino: “La tela es auténtica”, dice Pedretti.

Además, el análisis del Carbono 14 demuestra que la pintura se realizó en un periodo entre el 1460 y el 1650, evitando así la sospecha de que hubiera sido realizada en un tiempo posterior al de Leonardo.

El retrato presenta muchas similitudes con el de La Gioconda, especialmente en cuanto al color y la iluminación, aparte de la pose de ambas modelos.

De hecho, los expertos han presentado varios documentos en los que se puede intuir una división entre La Gioconda y la Mona Lisa, como si fueran dos cuadros distintos, y en los que se habla de una de ella como una “dama italiana, consorte de un caballero llamado Francesco”.

Por ello, la duda de que una de ellas fuera realmente Isabel de Este queda latente y tendrá que ser investigada más a fondo.

Isabel del Este fue una noble italiana, gran mecenas de artistas y protectora de, entre otros, Rafael, Mantegna y Giulio Romano y retratada por otros genios como Tiziano.
